Advanced Access
Describes a process through which general practice's in England are working to improve access to services for patients. Targets have been set through the 'NHS Plan' document for primary care to be able to offer patients an appointment with a health care professional (for example a practice nurse)within 24hrs of request, or with a GP within 48 hours by 31.12.2004.
We have always worked to try and provide as timely service as possible for patients, recognising the frustrations and pressures delay in obtaining an appointment can cause.
We, like many general practices in England, are currently using the 'advanced access' method to help us acheive these targets.
An integral part of this process is to engage with patients in helping them to use health services more effeectively. We will provide furthwer details and information through waiting room dispalys and on this site in due course.
